Words of truth and wisdom from my friend Kenna Ramsey
“Delivering one’s talent with confidence, and being confident that we’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing. That’s what’s on my mind today.
Dear Stage People,
It’s amazing how one can still manage to doubt and belittle their own talent despite all assurances and accomplishments. Humility is great, until it allows insecurities to sneak into our expressions and language about ourselves. Stop dimming your light, in word or in deed. If we really believed the negative stuff we think and say about our abilities we’d be in the accounting department—so please always shine your light brightly. Those around you will be inspired and encouraged to shine brightly too.
Thank you,
Kenna

6 years ago today was the end of an era.  6 years ago today was the end of the summer of my life.  The best 4 months in a show I had waited 11 years to be a part of.  I had the honor of being the last Maureen on Broadway.  It was special.  It was a full circle moment.  It will never EVER be taken for granted.  We were a tight family.  We still are. Carrying the legacy that is Rent.  The responsibility of giving meaning and worth to this piece.  Telling this story.  It still weighs heavy on my heart and Jonathan’s words are and will always be a touchstone for me! “There’s only now, there’s only this, forget, regret or life is yours to miss.  No other road, no other way, no day but today!”
